Huge congratulations to Harvey on the publication of his DSB preprint in Nature Communications.
This work in collaboration with former lab member Hugo Brandao asks the question: How do the two DNA ends come back together after a DNA Double-Strand Break (DSB)? Harvey shows that although this is assumed to just be mediated by passive diffusion, passive diffusion cannot explain the efficiency and kinetics estimated experimentally. Instead, Harvey investigates and proposes a role for loop extrusion in this process. Check out the full paper here. Congratulations Harvey! We are thrilled to welcome Matteo Mazzocca to the lab as a new post-doc.
Matteo recently finished his PhD at San Raffaele University in Italy, working with Davide Mazza. Matteo carried out cutting-edge single-molecule tracking studies of transcription factors with simultaneous readout of chromatin density, to understand the nuclear search mechanism. Welcome Matteo! |
